Back to life without The Tour. How amazing was Bradley Wiggens? Also, how loyal was Chris Froome? Aaron and I watched The Tour recap yesterday and I may have become a bit emotional! What an epic race and showmanship.
My weekend went by fast! Friday night was spent prepping for my long run. Saturday was spent running (clearly), shopping, and eating. I headed into the outter Chicago suburbs for outlet shopping and Trader Joe’s adventures.
It always seems like I need more work clothes, why? I should be set now. If not it doesn’t matter because like running clothes, I’ve banned myself from shopping until the 2013. Ok, well that excludes scarves, shoes, mittens, etc. Sometimes you just need those things at the drop of a hat!
After scoring an amazing pair of jeans and 3 tops, I swung by Binny’s. I was craving Krankshaft! It’s really silly that I haven’t had this kolsch yet this summer.
(Also noted Great Harvest Honey Whole wheat bread and Sugarjones cupcakes picked up earlier in Rockford.)
Then I forged on to Trader Joe’s. I roamed around picking up groceries that were on my list but my hunger was kicking in again despite having a pbj on my way to the store. I finally settled with munching on this on the drive home.
Meh, it did the trick but wasn’t delicious. I was really wanted a meal rather than a snack. I’d get that meal soon!
Trader Joe’s finds:
I stocked up on fish, soy milk and cookie butter (for myself and another dietitian).
Despite my own desires, I went back out to the local grocery store for produce. First I hydrated before heading back out.
I was sent this from Swanson Health Products. The pineapple flavor wasn’t too bad. I still am liking the mango flavor better.
Produce was obtained and I won’t be hitting the grocery store for another week.
By the time all groceries were put away, Aaron had left work and we decided to meet up for dinner. We hadn’t been to Social in a while (read: awhile for Social can be 2 weeks). I arrived before he did but instantly put in an order for cheese curds. No picture because I was starving.
I overheard that there was 1 salmon left while I was looking over the menu. I quickly called dibs on that!
Oh my goodness! Salmon over grits with fried onions and roasted cherry tomatoes with a cherry tomato sauce. I actually had never had grits before!
Aaron and I spent the rest of the night in watching The Dark Knight. I most definitely opened up a Krankshaft but had Aaron, the expert, pour it into a glass.
Perfect. Ten minutes into I was questioned where my beer went and had to admit that I drank it already. Woops!
We also opened up dessert!
Flavors of the day: peanut butter and jelly (grape) and mocha caramel. Why must these cupcakes be so good?
And then I fell asleep in another 10 minutes. Ten mile run, shopping, beer, and a movie is begging to fall asleep by 9:30 pm on a Saturday night.
Sunday
I woke up tired but hungry. Hunger will always get me out of bed faster. We grabbed a German breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I was wanting carbs which the potatoes and rye bread nailed. Again, to hungry for a picture. I’m not pleasant when I’m hungry. I have a one track mind when hunger strikes.
The rest of the day was spent at Home Depot (Aaron’s choice), Target, watching The Dark Knight Rises in imax, and having pizza at our friend’s house. I left the fun dinner party to come home and do laundry. While that was all going on I found this!
That’s RD LDN actually!
