I’m not sure where the problem is with my cup of coffee. It’s either with me or the coffeemaker. My coffee has either been too watery or too strong due to the coffeemaker producing 2 oz of coffee. Then this morning I try to take a peek at why in 10 minutes I only have the 2 oz, I burn my thumb on the steam.
If coffee wasn’t so amazing, I’d have given up by now.
It’s ok though. It’s Friday.
I was debating about running today since a storm threat prevented my planned Thursday run. At 5 am, my thumb chose to snooze it. Will be out there tomorrow morning for 10 miles!
Dietitian Business
My work to-do list is long. It’s the end of the month and I have all of my monthly work to complete. I’d like to say that next month I won’t wait to the end of the month to do it, but I’m not holding my breath.
I am the dietitian to do 2 test trays for the month of July. I did my first one yesterday (yes, July 26th). I’d never done a test tray at this hospital so I was completely sure of all the details of it all. Luckily the kitchen staff helped me along! I grabbed my check list and blue hairnet and dashed off with my renal diet test tray.
I followed the tray from assembly on the tray line to the delivery cart to the ICU along with the other ICU trays. I took the tray into the floor’s kitchen, made sure everything was on the tray, and took temperatures. The only problem was that the iced tea was 53*, a little warmer than desired.
My other monthly task includes doing 20 meal rounds. Easier said than done. My main concern is getting in and out of patient rooms. Sometimes patients are chatty which is understandable, but when I have a lot to do it conflicts me!
The day was thrown off within an hour though when my right contact kept bothering me. After my morning diabetes class, I used my lunch break to come home and change to glasses. I would have switched to new contacts right away but my eye was so irritated by this point.
I used the last 5 minutes of my lunch break to text Aaron this photo saying, “Glasses days are never good days.”
Work snacks:
That was one hard nectarine. It was inedible. I did manage to eat 1/4 of it before giving up. More peaches, please!
In other news-
My lab coat needs to be washed. A month ago.
5:30 O’clock
I was on my own tonight and I chose to be unproductive. This was about all I could manage for dinner.
Leftover basil black bean burger with mashed avocado on a toasted wheat thin and kale chips. This was round 2 of kale chips. Round 1 was overdone. Woops.
No beer last night but I still woke up this morning feeling dehydrated. I need to figure this out.
And my coffeemaker.
