With a half marathon coming up in 15 days, the last thing that I would want to wake up to is a sore throat.
I woke up this morning at 4:57 am with a sore throat.
Should I go back to bed? Should I drink some hot tea first? Should I push through this?
I took an extra 5 minutes to let my body wake up and dashed off for my 3 mile tempo run.
Signs that you are waking up too early to run.
The moon is still shining brightly.
I needed this run!
Running stats: 3 miles 26:14 8’44″
Under my goal 8’46″ pace goal. On my walk back home I realized this might be a lofty pace for me.
My last half marathon pace was 8’58″ which will requiring shaving off 12 seconds. I’ve got my work cut out for me.
Remember me under pressure to do 20 meal rounds at the end of July? I took action on the first day of this month to get a jump on this month’s 20. I picked up one of the hospital floors and grabbed the meal round sheet. Two out of 20 are done. This was huge for me. Sadly.
I spent the day doing the usual work tasks. Seeing patients for diabetes, charting, scheduling, doing July productivity, etc.
The most memorable part of the day was one of the diabetes nurses asking if that during races, I go to the bathroom on the road. Um, no. She swore that years ago a runner told her that that’s what runners and cyclists do. I cleared the air for runners. Or roads?
I’ve been eating 2 peaches daily at work.
Don’t let the peach season end!
Believe it or not, I did physical activity besides running after work. I did the arms and abs portion of Shred level 2. I’m getting pretty serious about this half. Or just scared.
I had dinner for one.
This was not my best version of channa masala.
I was a little lazy with the onions.
And then too liberal with burning the sugar off in the tomato paste.
Now this morning with a sore throat, leftover channa masala sounds torturous. So disappointed with my dinner results.
Per usual, I watched The Olympics. I may be deported soon after a conversation with Aaron.
Bradley Wiggins fever!! Note: I meant that he won gold. Autocorrect strikes again! Also note that I do care about Kristin Armstrong’s win.
Dark chocolate snack for the other win.
Please let this sore throat go away and be nothing. I still have many miles to run!
