You know what I love for a 3 day weekend? No plans. This girl needs to learn to relax. Plans cause me more stress and work.
Sunday was a great lazy day. I woke up not worried about the time or weather for the sake of a run.
The day kicked off with a breakfast with Aaron’s family. No picture of my “Mary’s Benedict” or latte. No worries, it wasn’t anything great. I’m a harsh critic for restaurant food. If I’m going to pay a steep price, you better wow me!
As for the rest of the day, it involved sitting next to Aaron while he worked away on Beer Fest work while I read, browsed, and ate too much hummus.
I finalized my training schedule with the help of Hal Higdon’s intermediate training plan.
I have 8 weeks and have already been running long distance due to just wrapping up a half marathon. This is my plan:
I’ll find out how well this goes in the weeks to come!
I broke away long enough to run (ahem, drive) home to do 15 minutes of yoga and to grab dinner groceries.
I returned to Aaron’s place and immediately grabbed a refreshment.
This my last Krankshaft. What a sad day!
While drinking my Kolsch, I realized that I need to stop relying on Aaron for all beer knowledge. I have my fair share of beer knowledge, but I don’t process it like I should because I know Aaron is a beer encyclopedia that I nearly always have access to. I made it through 4 pages before giving up and starting on dinner.
Have you picked up that I use only a few different cookbooks and ELR recipe archive for most meals? I used her again tonight. If you tempt me with black beans and corn, I’m there!
Southwestern sweet potato breakfast skillet! This was super quick to make and delicious when topped with Crystal hot sauce. I prepared the dish to be time in spice since I am such a wimp when it comes to jalapeño and cayenne pepper.
Cherries on the side.
I tested the waters at dinner and asked Aaron if he is ok with me making dinners and provided groceries for his breakfasts and lunches while he is in deep with Beer Fest work. He said he was fine with it since otherwise he’d likely be eating Pino’s pizza every night.
The rest of the night was painting my toe nails. I noticed that after my half marathon race, my toe nail polish had worn off in a few places and now was deteriorating more and more. Runners never have pretty feet. I also watched 4 episodes of season 2 The Office!
RYAN STARTED THE FI-YAH!!
Classic.
This morning I was woken up before 8 and figured I better get out there before the weather heats up. Too late. The humidity was ruthless. I had to battle my mind which was telling me to stop running because it is too hot. I countered with, “If I stop, I am in this heat longer!”
Not my best. Between the heat and a tight left quad, pushing my pace was not a priority.
I didn’t sweat this much at my half marathon last month.
And then I decided I must start daily yoga. I rolled out my mat for 10 minutes of yoga.
Shall we see how long this yoga streak can continue? Challenge accepted.
