Quick post coming! I need to get going on my grocery shopping, Target wandering, and possible running clothes updating.

So I woke up realizing that I hadn’t had my TB test read (ahem, a nurse to check my arm where the TB test was given). I knew I’d have to have it re-done. This of course was aggravating. And then I realized that I work with nurses. Their desks are a few feet away from mine. I talk with them daily. I complain to them…about my TB test! Yes! They saw it while I was moping about it on Wednesday and Thursday!
I called Employee Health to confirm that I can just get a signed note from our nurses saying that my TB test read negative! Jackpot! One of my favorite nurses signed off saying that my test was negative.
While I stood over her while she wrote me a note to give to Employee Health I felt like I was in high school again when my mom would call me into school 1 period late so I could avoid having 1st period swimming class on my birthday. No 18 year-old wants to have wet hair and next to no make-up on her birthday.
The rest of the day flew by. I took a brief 15 minutes lunch to keep the momentum going.
During cardiac rehab, an exercise specialist and I were scheming ideas to do this weekend. I suggested we crash the beer festival volunteer party. I quickly texted Aaron to see if we could join the post festivities. We got the nod of approval.
clocked out
Per usual, I came home and changed into sweats immediately. What full-time worker doesn’t do that?
I finally found a way to watch Thursday’s Glee episode. Not sure how I am feeling about this new season yet. I knew how I felt about having to pry myself off of the couch and change into more acceptable social clothes though.
I drove downtown to meet my friend and head to the party for the volunteers.
I was happy to have some agreeable that I did help/volunteer with the beer fest so I wasn’t a complete crasher.
I may have been asked by another volunteer what station I had at the fest. I smiled, darted my eyes back and forth, and admitted, “Uh well, I actually had comped VIP….” His response was not of annoyance! Whew! His response was, “Oh you’re Aaron’s girl!!” I confirmed and then stood up to grab pizza and 1 beer: Boulevard Oktoberfest.
We didn’t stay out late since I had my 10 miler this morning!
Seven am came way too soon. I moped around in bed for another 30 minutes before finding my way to the kitchen for a bagel.
I was out the door before 9. Thank goodness for cooler weather! I now just need to remember that I need less and weaker Gatorade for my long runs.
The run was gorgeous and somewhat social. I ran into by one of my internship preceptor’s husband (she has 1 husband, I had 2 internship preceptors) and a manager at the same preceptor site. It’s so nice to see old faces pop up unexpectedly.
I tell you what, when I was pacing 9:45 I felt like I was going at a good clip! I couldn’t understand why my pace wasn’t matching up to what my muscles were feeling. I pushed and pushed during the last 2-3 miles. I would have a better pace. I have had poor 10 mile run paces. It wasn’t going to happen again today.
Running stats: 10 miles 1:35:27 9’32″
There were definitely some killer slopes that I had to push through. I forced my arms to swing more than usual to get some added momentum. It seemed to work, maybe more mentally than physically!
Running for me is like hitting the reset button. Everything is cleared and I am at peace.
Bring on the chocolate milk!
Three gulps is all it takes.
I took off my socks to stretched and saw a callous former over a pre-existing callous. Nice!
Breakfast was a smoothie. I needed greens and berries in my life after lacking produce intake from Friday.
Coffee to warm me back up. The empty glasses behind breakfast were all from my run! I drank 2 glasses of water and chocolate milk after my run. Hydration station!
Did I say that this would be quick?
