I am finally just bumming on the couch today. My body is exhausted!
dietitian business
As soon as my work day begin, I had to do schedule rearranging. I happened to score well on flexibility on my work evaluation.
The day wasn’t crazy hectic for me which is nice after the way Monday was. I was able to catch up on charting, see my outpatients, do Aramark productivity, update my diabetes hours (933 hours of 1,000 done!).
Snack that was not an apple-
Toasted sandwich thin with sunflower butter and Dane County farmer’s market jam! Toasted bread always makes the office smell so good.
I’ve said it before but I’m saying it again, my line of work makes me so grateful for my own health and my family’s health.
weekend!
I love Friday nights! I finally get to just relax when I come home from work. I immediately put on sweats and plop down on the couch for an hour or so. It just feels so good.
I fight the comfortable couch as always to get up and make pizza.
Classic red onion, pear, mozzarella, goat cheese, and balsamic pizza! I split the pizza with Aaron who probably could have eaten the entire pizza on his own. I really need to start making 2 pizzas at a time.
After eating we tried to catch up on Thursday night NBC shows. I lasted an episode of The Office and was asleep by 9:15. My body has been extra tired this week. I also think that when I run consistently, as soon as my head hits a pillow I’m out like a light. And I don’t wake up for really anything. Really. Apparently I slept through a super loud hacker/cougher neighbor and their loud TV. I only know this since it kept Aaron awake.
Would you believe on my day off of work that I woke up at 6:45? I tried fighting it but eventually hopped out of bed to make a pre-run breakfast.
Traditional toasted honey whole wheat bread with cookie butter. This is over 50 gm of carbs since the bread is thick. I needed every gram since I was looking at 11 miles today!
I ran into trouble almost immediately. There was some awareness walk for autism at the start of my run. People were stopping and blocking the path. I had minimal patience which makes me sound like an awful person. I dodged in and out of people and dogs and finally found my way tonext tothe path where it was clear.
I mentally broke the run up into 3 mile segments. This makes the final segment seem like a breeze. I was doing well until I started hitting mini hills and more barking tiny dogs. There is one steep, hard curve mountain that I could barely keep my feet shuffling onward (a sign recommends all cyclist, skateboarders, etc to walk to the steep curve).
Everything is better once I am on my way back home and especially after crossing the busy street that links the bike path.
I had to start rationing my Gatorade with 4 miles to go. It was heating up and I was feeling sweaty and salty.
I hate admitting what usually comes out of my mouth towards the end and after runs. Something about a naughty word that makes everything better….
All in all it was a great run. The scenery of the red and yellow leaves had me aw almost the entire time.
The trees that looked the best were around my halfway point when taking a picture was low on my list.

No breaks either. I told myself I would consider my distance “dead in the water” should I take a walking break at any point. This may have been a good motivator too since my last 11 mile run had an average pace of 9:50! Progress.
All I wanted to do after my run was to stretch and rest. Something kept nagging at me though. I had the feeling that I missed a hair cut appointment! I found the reminder card on my car floor. My appointment was in an hour!
I ran a quick errand, came home and rinsed off (left the gross, sweaty hair untouched), and ate an apple with sunflower butter.
I dashed off and barely made it to my appointment on time. I gave the receptionist my name and she replied with, “We tried calling you to tell you that M had to take early maternity leave. Maybe I can find someone else that can do your hair today?” Really? Did this just happen? I was saved when someone else agreed to cut my hair! And dang was she fabulous with the head massaging.
Afterwards I grabbed coffee since this had to be scrapped in order to get to my cancelled hair appointment on time.
I asked for an ice latte for this 80* heat and was given a hot pumpkin spice latte instead. Whatever, I had my coffee! I also had a Kind Bar. I was starving at this point. I was really bummed when I saw that it was only 180 calories. I was hungry again 20 minutes later. Boo.
I hit up Target and the grocery store and am finally now sitting down. I am ready to eat more food tonight, have an adult beverage, and sleep like a rock again.
