Race day eve! This will hopefully be a quick post since I have a to-do list that keeps growing. I need to get things done but rest my legs.
It still hasn’t sunk it yet that I am running a half tomorrow. What is helping it slowly begin to sink in though is that I am experiencing slight knee pain. Great timing.
dietitian business
It was bound to happen. I show up to cardiac rehab and one of the patient says to me, “Hey! I saw you on the news at some bacon event!”
I simply kept my head down, slipped a note into a chart, and avoided all eye contact. I had no comment!
Why don’t they show me running 10 miles or eating vegetarian on the news? Bummer.
Fun Halloween decor was in the break room.
I had grabbed 2 mini Reese cups at the start of the day that last me all morning. Only now do I realize that I never even thought to snatch more up. This is a good thing which happened primarily due to me being ridiculously busy and spending my lunch break at my desk to chart.
I had to catch up on a lot of charting since I am off Monday and Tuesday (yay!!) along with less time to chart since all of my patients have been showing up! The more patients that show up, the less time that I have to chart yet more charts to chart. Did you follow that?
Friday was one of those days that I became very grateful for all of my life stress. My life stress is so simple compared to some of the patients that I meet. I nearly cried in front of 2 patients during the afternoon while they told me the stress that they are dealing with.
What you don’t learn while studying nutrition is that patients come with life situations that you could never imagine and you are to try to help them change their dietary habits when food is the last priority for them and for good reason.
I power charted at 4 pm and before leaving had a little heart to heart with 2 of the nurses. I really really love our nurses. Hugs are given almost daily.
weekend!
Once I left work, I drove straight to Dick’s Sproting Goods to find a running t-shirt. I only have 1 old sweaty running t-shirt that I would prefer to not wear on Sunday. It is supposed to be decent weather which I wasn’t planning for! I found this on sale.
No Halloween costume to run in. Running in a costume seems rough. I don’t want anything to distract me or literally irritate me while running. Plus I don’t want to spend extra money and sort of ruin a running shirt to turn it into a costume. I will be the boring runner.
I put the shirt on to test it out and went on my final run.
I felt ok. It was pretty blah outside.
There weren’t many people out on the bike/wellness path. The majority of people that were out were running though!
I stretched carefully in hopes of curing the slight knee pain I felt towards the end of my run.
Dinner was typical!
And then like the old lady that I am I stayed in and watched 48 Hours and went to bed. I’ll play it off as just being a restful runner!
Time to get going on prepping for my half!!

Ahh I forgot somehow that you were running the Monster Dash! I hope it went well and I can’t wait to hear about it!
A few posts coming tomorrow to cover the weekend and recovery.
