After my race, I took a glorious shower. I love how a simple shower can make you feel like a whole new person!
We checked out of our hotel and my friend Amanda met us as we were loading up my car. She would be joining us for brunch at The Publican. We piled into my parent’s car and found our way to Fulton Market Street. What a magical place….
Accidental picture of restaurant-
I knew I needed a Publican mimosa stat! It is orange juice and Blanche de Bruxelles (wit beer)!!
This is heaven in a glass. So good. SO good! I wanted like 3 more after I took the last sip.
I asked about 10 questions about the menu before ordering. I couldn’t mess this up (not that you really could).
Aaron and I ordered a side of hashbrowns and bacon to split. Those hashbrowns came out first and were out of this world delicious. I really can’t stop to take picture of delicious food-sorry!
I ordered an omelet for my entrée. Their omelets are so simple and light. They put the roasted vegetables (baby peppers and broccoli) over the omelet during plating. Keep that omelet simple!
I nibbled off my parents’ and Aaron’s plates. Aaron ordered the Publican tartine. Aaron described it perfectly as the best stuffing you’ve ever had.
I left with a happy belly! I am still thinking about those hash browns and Publican mimosa.
With such a gorgeous day in Chicago, we hung out with my college friend who lives near Wrigleyville. We hit up her newer place and then hit up Hopleaf, a Belgian bar. Aaron ordered for me so I don’t even remember what he put in front of me.
He had a saison that I took a sip or two of.
I couldn’t even finish my beer. I needed to stick to water and felt like I needed a nap!
We all split an order of frites.
That seems to be the trend after my half marathons-a beer and frites!
With sleepiness kicking in, we decided to start heading out of the city. Like the crazy couple that we are, we entertained ourselves on the drive home.
Benjamin Franklin had his first driving lesson which just happened to be in Chicago traffic.
Once home, we popped popcorn and watched a few episodes of The Office (suprise, surprise). I was asleep within minutes! I woke up the next morning with sore legs and a rumbling stomach. I searched Aaron’s kitchen for food.
English muffin will do!
My legs needed to be warmed up and then felt fine. I spent the day stretching them out and doing a short yoga session.
I quickly added my new medal to the display.
I was smart and took Monday and Tuesday off. I didn’t do too much either day! I’m usually one who needs to constantly be doing something. Grocery shopping and cooking dinners were of my biggest accomplishments.
It’s Wednesday morning and I am up for work. The vacation was nice while it lasted. I get another vacation in 2 weeks though!
Biggest news of the day already…I am getting a niece this afternoon!!
