I love running. I really do.
I guess I need to say that I love running outdoors. I want nothing to do with treadmills.
Monday night I pushed it in regards to sunlight. The sun didn’t stay out for long for my 4 mile run but I didn’t mind.

I pounded out the 4 miles and enjoyed each step. I love seeing winter animals scatter about, waving to the few other runners out, see dogs being walked, the progress of winter (or lack of), etc. It’s just so enjoyable.
After my run, I walk back home via the bridge, take a short cut, come home, stretch, put on warm socks, and start icing while watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Again enjoyable!
Last night I debated on the sunlight. I felt like I had less time till complete darkness. I opted for the Y. As I drove closer to the Y I realized that I forgot my water bottle and earbuds. I drove home to get both items and drove back to the Y. I had to wait for a treadmill to open up. I stretched more while waiting. Once one opened up, I settled in. I set up my Nike running app for a 6X400 interval workout.
Worst workout in forever.
Each time I went to adjust the speed (interval workout!), my finger was so sweaty that my finger would eventually slip and hit the stop button. I’d have to pause my phone workout and get the treadmill speed back up. And then the actually running just was horrible. Running on a belt is anything but enjoyable. It was also so warm in the gym room. I kept stopping and starting my workout because I felt tired (but not my legs).
I nearly quit the gym on the way out.
That ran (sadly) ruined my night. I don’t run just for the physical part.
Give me a headlamp and orange vest and meet me outside for a run in 10* weather.

I just cancelled my gym membership on Monday. I don’t know what it is… but even after cardio and some strength training I never felt like I got a good workout at the gym. Getting bundled up and exercising outside is sooo much more enjoyable!
I’m almost ready to do the same!
